Christmas on 5th Street
Last Thursday was Christmas on 5th Street, one of my absolute favorite traditions at Baylor! The weather was perfect, cold so we got to wear fancy winter coats but not too cold that we couldn’t enjoy our sleigh ride on campus! The best part of this years celebration was that Aaron played Santa! He had to sit there for 4 hours taking pictures, but I think he had fun. We got so many great pictures! We did miss the Steven Curtis Chapman concert because we were watching Santa, but that’s ok, it was a wonderful night!

Sprinkles!
Last weekend (I have been meaning to post this all week, just hadn't have time) I made some amazing dark chocolate Sprinkles cupcakes with some mix I got from my wonderful sis in law! I had been saving them for a good occasion, and we had some friends over for dinner, so they were perfect! They even came with the little dots they put on them, how cool is that!

Some things I missed..
We were so busy in May and I didn’t get to post much, which caused me to miss blogging about some important events. So I will try and catch up...
On the 15th we had our 4th wedding anniversary! I am so blessed to have a wonderful husband who loves me so much!
On the 16th we went to the hooding ceremony for Aaron's cohort who are graduating this year. I can not wait for Aaron to become a master next year!!
And on the 28th, while we were on our trip, Aaron turned 28! It was so wonderful to get to spend his birthday in Munich, his favorite city in the world, and we had the most amazing dinner inside the Marienplazt courtyard! What a view! See the bottom center umbrella, that is where we ate!

5 days
We leave for Germany in 5 days! I feel bad I haven't posted in so long, we have just been busy with work and getting ready for our trip. We still have so much to do, it's going to be a busy week, but it will be worth it. At least this year we don't have the passport fiasco like we had last year, so that's good! I can not wait to see our Goddaughter again, it's going to be so much fun!

Christianna
Christianna is clear to fly home, so they are leaving to go back to Germany this weekend. I am going to miss them so much but we will see them in two weeks!! I can not wait for our vacation, it is going to be so much fun to spend time with our friends and Goddaughter, and we get to spend Aaron's birthday in Munich! I am sad I didn't learn as much German as I wanted to, but the trip is going to be a blast!

Lack of German
I haven't been posting about my German lesions in several weeks, that's because I have been taking a break. After Aaron spend almost 3 hours during a road trip trying to teach me how to say 20, and for the life of me I could not say it right, so I lost motivations. I promised him I was not giving up, I will pick it up again soon because I really do want to learn. I am hoping maybe in Germany I can get some kids books and movies to help me learn, that would be so fun fun!

Our nephew Liam is 1..isn't he the cutest! Here is a picture taken in March when he was in Houston with his mom...we had his birthday party a month early since they live so far away and we can't be with him today. I can't wait to see him and his big brother again!

Blue Angels and Hooks
We had the best weekend..We went to Kingsville for the Wings over South Texas air show and got to see the Blue Angels Saturday and Sunday! They were so amazing and I can not wait to see them again. The other performers in the air show were great too, I loved all the aerobatics! We stayed in Corpus Saturday night and after dinner were were trying to figure out what to do, and we happened to pick up a Corpus Christi Hooks schedule, and they had a game that night, so we had to go..it was so much fun! Whataburger field was a great ballpark, we walked around a lot and there is not a bad view in the place. Yea for baseball!!

My poor head
So I wasn't going to post this, but why not....this past weekend I was cooking breakfast (this pancake that you bake in a pie pan in the oven) and when I am baking something in the oven (especially something that is going to rise like cakes or cookies) I love to sit in front of the oven and watch whatever I am cooking bake. Well, we have a drawer next to the oven where I keep my pot holders and oven mitts, and of course, the drawer was open and I go to stand up and I bang my head. I didn't think it was that bad at first, until I put my hands on my head and realize I am covered in blood. Poor Aaron is still sleeping and wakes up to me screaming "help, help" with blood all over my face, but he took great care of me and got me cleaned up. I probably should have gone and got stitches but I was not about to go mess up my hair before our vacation. It stopped bleeding eventually, so it's all good.

Ich mochte heute einkaufen
I finished week 3 and I think I am slowly getting the hang of the language. I just don’t have the accent to pronounce most of the words, even simple ones like 20 are just impossible. I would love to find some Disney movies in German, like watching el rey leon in Spanish class. I know they have them, but they are old and hard to find, even on eBay. I will have to keep looking!

Happy Good Friday
We had a great day of working in our back yard and rebuilding our patio…again. It’s becomeing a tradition..we built it around this time in 06, rebuilt over Easter last year because I wanted it bigger, and now we decided we wanted a gravel patio and to use the pavers for another project. I promised Aaron though this was the last time! We are going to do some more work tomorrow and then I will pot some pictures.

Ich mochte Apfelkuchen mit Sahne
I finished week 2 of my German course. I don’t feel like I got to study as much this week, so although I can read it I am still having a hard time speaking and making sentences. Poor Aaron, I am really trying, I promise.

We got to meet out Goddaughter tonight! I will post pics when we back in tomorrow morning.

Mien Name ist
Alisa aud ich bin aus Texas. Wir fliegen im Mai nach Frankfurt.I finished week one of my teach yourself German course and I actually stuck with it! It helps that I have Aaron helping me..I know I frustrate him that I am taking longer to pick it up, but he is such a good teacher! I think the book is also annoying him, because it is designed to just get you by while you are in Germany for vacation or business, so it even tells you not to worry about conjugations and details like that, the Germans will still understand you. He has studied the language for years so he is trying to add some things and teach me properly. I am getting really good at reading, but speaking it and making sentences on my own is still a challenge.

More cake
It has been awhile since Aaron has made a cake for class, he missed most of February for work, but here is his first cake for course 3! It’s even covered in fondant, he did wonderful!

Guten Tag
Yesterday I was in the Baylor bookstore while Aaron was in class taking his stats midterm, and I was looking in the foreign language section (my favorite for some reason) and found a really cheep teach yourself German book and CD kit. It’s suppose to be 35 minutes a day for 6 weeks, and since our trip to Germany is 72 days away, I got it! It might not be that good, but it was cheap, so who cares., it was worth it.Aaron’s been trying to get me to learn for years, and I said I was going to before last years trip and didn’t, so this year I really want to try. I am still learning Italian, I am going to borrow the Rosetta Stone software so that should be great and help a lot, but the Germany trip is first so I will focus on that for now. I figured it I post my progress on here I am more likely to finish it and maybe learn something, so I will keep you posted.Day 1 was reading this cheesy conversation on a plane, how this guy has lots of money and a vacation home in Mallorca and how expensive it is when his wife calls her family in the States, but I guess its the vocabulary it’s teaching you that’s important, not the story.

Happy Texas Independence Day
We did some yard work today in our back yard, it was so much fun! We (I say we, but that really means Aaron) planted a nectarine tree to go with the peach tree we planted last year and we are getting ready to plant our garden. The nectarine tree is on the left, the peach tree is on the right inside the garden fence. I am looking forward to fresh fruit and vegetables!

Cake disaster
I had my first cake disaster tonight. I had two baby shower cakes due this weekend, I did one yesterday and one today. Today’s was for a shower my neighbor was hosting, and I was going to bring it to her tonight after I finished. I had it all ready and it looked great! I took my pictures and got it boxed ready to go. I picked the box up and take a few steps and what happens…I drop it of course! I freak out and open the box and the top tier has completely fallen off. I start crying and screaming and Aaron comes running in and saves the day! He calmed me down and went to work fixing the layers all by himself (while I am still crying) and getting me to the point where I can redo the detail work. I don’t know what I would have done with out him! I will edit this post with pictures and more details later this weekend.

Above the clouds
So what do you do when it’s cloudy outside and you have your instrument rating…go flying of course! Aaron went flying today with his Baylor student friend who has his instrument rating and wanted to do some real IFR flying (up above the clouds so you can’t see the ground) in the bad weather we had today. I didn’t go because I was working on a cake, but I will try and post the cell phone pic Aaron took..so beautiful!

It's going around
Well, it’s going around and we caught it…we are both sick. Aaron had it last week and still has a bad cough, and now I have it. Poor us, I guess we will just take more medicine and hope we get well soon.

Jury duty
I had to go to jury duty today. I am done though, the case for the group I was in, about 35 people they were going to pick the jury from, the defendant never showed up this morning…so they said they issued an arrest warrant and told us we were free to go. So I was worried it was going to be a long day but it wasn’t bad at all!

Major League
I can not wait for baseball, spring training starts next week! So to get into the spirit we watched Major League tonight…one of my all time favorite movies! We also watched the DVD extras, there is an alternate ending that has the owner turn out to be good, wanting the Indians to win the whole time. Supposedly there was no offer from Miami to move the team, and she knew the players could be great, just needed a reason to bring it all together…interesting but I don’t think that works, I am glad they changed it. Wild Thing, you make my heart sing!

A perfect evening
We got to go flying around Waco today! One of Aaron’s students he recruited has his instrument rating and a plane here (how lucky is that) and asked Aaron to fly with him, and of course I got to go too!

Part XLII
We had a great time watching the super bowl at one of our good friend’s party tonight. I went in not caring at all who won (I only watch the commercials of course) but I was so excited the underdogs won! I thought it was a great game, one of the best in several years. Of course, the best part of tonight is that it’s almost time for baseball season..I can not wait…go Astros!

Bowling pro
I made it to pro status playing bowling on my niece and nephew’s Wii this weekend! It was so much fun but I know my arm is going to be killing me tomorrow..oh well, it was worth it! Next time I am going to work on my baseball skills, which right now are pretty sad.

Wilton classes
After taking December off from teaching my cake decorating classes, I am starting up a course 1 tonight. It doesn’t look like it is going to be a big class, but it is going to be a lot of fun! It also gives me an excuse to go to hobby Lobby every week and shop, and that’s always nice!

Happy New Year
I am so happy 2008 is finally here! Aaron and I had a wonderful time bringing in the new year in San Antonio, all the lights on the river walk were so beautiful. I have had my black eyed peas, made my resolutions, and now praying for a wonderful year ahead. Many blessings and love to all our friends and family!
