Ich mochte heute einkaufen

I finished week 3 and I think I am slowly getting the hang of the language. I just don’t have the accent to pronounce most of the words, even simple ones like 20 are just impossible. I would love to find some Disney movies in German, like watching el rey leon in Spanish class. I know they have them, but they are old and hard to find, even on eBay. I will have to keep looking!

Happy Good Friday

We had a great day of working in our back yard and rebuilding our patio…again. It’s becomeing a tradition..we built it around this time in 06, rebuilt over Easter last year because I wanted it bigger, and now we decided we wanted a gravel patio and to use the pavers for another project. I promised Aaron though this was the last time! We are going to do some more work tomorrow and then I will pot some pictures.

Ich mochte Apfelkuchen mit Sahne

I finished week 2 of my German course. I don’t feel like I got to study as much this week, so although I can read it I am still having a hard time speaking and making sentences. Poor Aaron, I am really trying, I promise.

Mien Name ist

Alisa aud ich bin aus Texas. Wir fliegen im Mai nach Frankfurt.I finished week one of my teach yourself German course and I actually stuck with it! It helps that I have Aaron helping me..I know I frustrate him that I am taking longer to pick it up, but he is such a good teacher! I think the book is also annoying him, because it is designed to just get you by while you are in Germany for vacation or business, so it even tells you not to worry about conjugations and details like that, the Germans will still understand you. He has studied the language for years so he is trying to add some things and teach me properly. I am getting really good at reading, but speaking it and making sentences on my own is still a challenge.

Guten Tag

Yesterday I was in the Baylor bookstore while Aaron was in class taking his stats midterm, and I was looking in the foreign language section (my favorite for some reason) and found a really cheep teach yourself German book and CD kit. It’s suppose to be 35 minutes a day for 6 weeks, and since our trip to Germany is 72 days away, I got it! It might not be that good, but it was cheap, so who cares., it was worth it.Aaron’s been trying to get me to learn for years, and I said I was going to before last years trip and didn’t, so this year I really want to try. I am still learning Italian, I am going to borrow the Rosetta Stone software so that should be great and help a lot, but the Germany trip is first so I will focus on that for now. I figured it I post my progress on here I am more likely to finish it and maybe learn something, so I will keep you posted.Day 1 was reading this cheesy conversation on a plane, how this guy has lots of money and a vacation home in Mallorca and how expensive it is when his wife calls her family in the States, but I guess its the vocabulary it’s teaching you that’s important, not the story.

Happy Texas Independence Day

We did some yard work today in our back yard, it was so much fun! We (I say we, but that really means Aaron) planted a nectarine tree to go with the peach tree we planted last year and we are getting ready to plant our garden. The nectarine tree is on the left, the peach tree is on the right inside the garden fence. I am looking forward to fresh fruit and vegetables!
